THE FACE BEHIND KIEHI

I am Sami from northern Finland, Oulu. I have always been fascinated about crafting things with my hands.

In year 2013 I made my first puukko knife using a ready-made blade. Since then I have made several puukko knives and leuku knives. Nowadays I also make blades myself. My work has been appreciated in the 2024 Finnish championships of puukko knife making, where my knife received an honorable mention from Finnish puukko association.

In addition to making knives, I have made leather works, mainly wallets but also other projects. My wallets have been tested by several customers to be functional, durable and reliable.

Word Kiehi comes from finnish word Kiehinen which means feather stick in english. Feather stick is made when thin wood shavings are poured from the stick with a knife. Kiehinen is used to get start for a bonfire with lighter.
